on staying sane when you work from home and live alone
how to still get social interaction... even if you live alone ✨ plus my favorite wfh hacks, tips, and tricks
I love working from home and I also love living alone… but sometimes the combination of both can leave me feeling isolated. If I don’t make the effort, my doormen could easily be the only people I talk to IRL during the day.
There are a few shifts I’ve started making to help keep me sane and feeling less isolated during the work day.
But first, let’s catch up about my trip to Los Angeles and some other favorites.
While I was in LA I read The Astrology House which comes out this summer. It’s a thriller that takes place during an astrology retreat. I loved the infusion of astrology throughout but did find the middle a bit meh. If you’re super into thrillers and the nuances of astrology it’s a fun read, though.
Currently, I’m reading Good Material by Dolly Alderton. It seems the whole internet is reading this book right now and I can understand why. I’m deeply enjoying this book about a break-up that’s interestingly told from the male perspective.
Green Day has a new album out! I need to listen to it a bit more, but I’ve been enjoying it and feel like it’s the perfect evolution of their sound for 2024.
I ate SO many tasty things while I was away. It’s hard to pick favorites but my top would be:
Robata Jinya in West Hollywood — EVERYTHING was incredible but especially the homemade tofu, vegan ramen, and spicy creamy shrimp roll
Pura Vita in West Hollywood — this vegan Italian spot is always a favorite of mine. The baked ricotta is easily one of my top 5 favorite dishes ever.
On the plane to LA, I watched the Pixar movie Elemental. It’s a coming-of-age story that takes place in a land where the elements — fire, water, land, air — all intermingle. Of course, I knew it was going to be good because come on, Pixar, but gah it was so charming and gave me all the feels.
I can’t wait to wear this adorable cardigan I got while I was in LA. It’s so soft and cozy.
My whole LA trip? The main reason I was there was to visit my best friend from college who has lived there since 2010. The secondary reason was I desperately wanted to escape New York winter… can you blame me?
I spent the first week staying with my bestie in Beachwood Canyon and then spent the last 3 days in Santa Monica staying at the Viceroy. Staying by the beach was such a treat, I truly felt like I was on vacation and the weather couldn’t have been better.
Now I’m dreaming of a long trip to LA next winter staying by the beach. Dream big, right?
Now, back to working from home…
