✨ Silly Little Check-in ✨
Hiiii! I’m back from Punta Cana!
It was a lovely vacation with my family. The highlight (besides being on the beach!) was spending lots of time with my nephew. He’s 16 months old now and growing up so so fast.
My mom caught this adorable moment we had together. He was demanding I “Cheers” with his cup.
While I didn’t log off social media completely, my screen time was down more than 25% compared to the previous week according to Apple. It’s easy for me to feel this pressure to always be working. Even though I was off from my 9-5 job, there’s still this pressure to keep up my side hustle as a content creator.
I’m honestly proud of myself for not putting too much pressure on myself to be churning out content while I was away. It might sound silly (I mean, this newsletter is called silly little things…) but even just removing that pressure made a huge difference. I posted if I wanted to say something. And I didn’t post if I didn’t feel like it.
My goal was to rest, relax, recharge, and spend time with my nephew (okay, and the rest of my family!) and I like to think I succeeded on that front.
What to read this weekend: I’ve been seeing the book How to End a Love Story all over Bookstagram and TikTok. Sometimes I’m iffy on “popular” romance books so was a bit worried this wouldn’t be for me. Nope. I’m obsessed. I started reading it on the plane ride home and wish I didn’t have to stop… or work today as I just want to read.
Helen is a best-selling author of a YA series that’s now getting adapted into a TV show. When she arrives in LA she finds out the guy who is linked to the death of her sister is part of the writing team.
You bet I’ll be spending this weekend curled up with this book.
What to listen to this weekend: Taylor Swift’s new album The Tortured Poets Department. Duh.
What to do this weekend: This one is NYC specific (but I’m sure other cities are doing similar things!) — on Saturday, April 20th certain streets in NYC will be car-free for an early Earth Day celebration. Citi Bike will offer free unlimited 30-minute rides. See the list of streets here.
Hope you have a great weekend and I’ll see you Sunday for this week’s Sip!
