✨ Silly Little Check-in ✨
Hiii, how are you this week?
You ever have one of those really good days that afterward you think “Okay, how can I recreate the vibe of this day so I can have this feeling again?”
I had one of those days this week.
Some of it was the weather and that the sun now sets after 7PM in NYC (GLORIOUS!) and some of it was that I had a particularly social day between meeting up with a friend for a quick catch-up at a cute spot in my neighborhood followed by my best friend’s birthday dinner at night.
As someone who identifies as an introvert, days with a lot of socializing usually make me nervous. I fear I’m going to drain my social battery before the day is over. Something I’ve realized though is that for me it’s often the *types* of socializing, the people, and the environment. I’m not a social butterfly, but as someone who lives alone and works for a fully remote company, I’ve been craving socializing more than I used to as a fitness instructor.
This very good day got me thinking about how I can infuse more fun, joy, and low-key socializing into my week. Some days it can feel like all I did was work and work out and work some more. I know every day won’t be thrilling, but I do think there are little ways to mix it up. One thing I want to do is start going to coffee shops and other cute spaces to work more so I feel like I’m switching up my environment and having that interaction with people. Even if it’s just for a few hours.
How about you, how do you infuse little fun moments into your usual day?
What to read this weekend: Soooo, the trailer just dropped for the movie adaptation of my favorite book, The Idea of You. You’ve probably heard me talk about my love of this book on many (many) occasions. If you’ve somehow still *not* read it, your assignment for this weekend is to get on that! Please read it before the movie and then we can discuss it together.
What to watch this weekend: I watched the movie American Fiction last weekend (it’s available to rent on Apple and Prime) and loved it. The movie follows a frustrated novelist who decides to write a satire of stereotypical “Black” books. What starts as a joke soon spirals out of control. The book not only gets published but ends up being extremely successful.
As someone who works in the book world, I found the commentary on the industry very interesting and it was also so funny. A great watch for book lovers.
What to do this weekend: One of my new favorite things to do is walk around the new Target that opened up near me and choose one fun new shower or bath product to try. It’s usually something that’s under $10 like a bath bomb, bath salts, or even a lovely candle. It feels silly and simple but I love trying out the new product and it makes my next shower or bath feel a bit special. Go find one new product to try out and report back, please.
Hope you have a lovely weekend. See you on Sunday for the next Sunday Sips.

I got to film an interview for work with Cord Jefferson and can’t wait to watch American Fiction too!
