Happy Friday and welcome to The Weekend Itinerary. Every Friday I share a little recap of my week followed by ideas for how to spend your weekend.
Todayās itinerary includes a book that I think youāll love, the TV show Iāll be watching this weekend, and a summer favorite.
āØ Silly Little Check-in āØ
I hit a breaking point this week.
Iāve been doing too much.
Sure, I inherently know this. This week I started to feel it. My therapist challenged me to find a way to carve out āmeā time. Immediately after my session I went for a walk with my phone on airplane mode and got a peach green tea lemonade.
The simple act of putting my phone on airplane mode made such a difference. I wasnāt tempted to check how my instagram post was doing or answer a DM on the work account. The walk was just for me.
This didnāt change everything. Duh. But hitting this breaking point made me realize I need to take a step back and evaluate.
What are my priorities this summer? Where do I want to focus my energy? What can I take off my plate, even if itās temporarily, so I can focus on those priorities?
I came to this conclusion:
Silly Little Things will be going on āsummer vacationā for July and August.
Summer is a season for slowing down and getting outside. I love writing this newsletter and connecting with all of you, but keeping it going during the summer has felt like the opposite of my mission with this content.
Itās about the little things that bring us joy. And for me in the summer, thatās fully embracing the season without feeling like Iām too busy or tired to enjoy it.
What this means:
All paid subscriptions will be paused starting July 1. You wonāt be charged for your monthly payments until September. For annual subscriptions, your renewal date will be pushed by two months.
Iāll still be popping in with a monthly recap, including everything I read. And maybe some other content along the way if I feel inspired.
Thank you š
Thank you for supporting this corner of the internet. I hope you fully embrace the summer, too.
Okay, now onto the weekend itineraryā¦
What to read: A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson. This book has two of my favorite things in a summer read: teens with big feelings and a thriller thatās not too scary.
Now is the perfect time to read this YA thriller as the Netflix adaptation comes out August 1.
What to watch: The Bear season 3 on Hulu. If you need me this weekend, assume Iām watching The Bear.
What to do: Make (or seek out!) something that tastes like summer.
Iām obsessed with all things summer, as established in previous newsletters. The foods of summer are included in my love of summer. This week I had my first corn of the season? Incredible. I dream of this moment. Iām writing this newsletter early but hope by the time youāre reading it Iāve had my first peach of the season too.
Whether you make a summer dish yourself or get it delivered, make it your mission this weeekend to have a summer fave. On my list:
Lobster mac and cheese (I use frozen lobster cakes!)
Corn. All the fresh corn on the cob
Tacos. Preferrable of the shrimp or fish variety.
A fresh juicy peach
An endless supply of cherries
A turkey burger fresh off the grill
Iāll see you Sunday for a summer-y sip and next week for the June recap before my little substack vacation beginsš
