āØ Silly Little Check-in āØ
Is anyone elseās mood *deeply* impacted by the weather? Sunday it was warm and sunny here in NYC. I felt like I could conquer the world and I was in the BEST mood. Since then itās been raining more or less non-stop and itās left me feeling cranky. Itās made me realize how much I really rely on my after-work walk to clear my brain and separate working from home and living at home.
Alsoooā¦ the Meta social media channels (Instagram, Threads, and Facebook) all went down earlier this week for a good 3 hours and it wasā¦ glorious? I guess partially because I felt like I was playing hookey from my full-time job since I couldnāt post anything on those major channels. But I also felt so focused since I didnāt have this constant distraction.
Lately, Iāve been feeling like Iām just always on social media and looking at my phone. It comes with the territory of being a social media manager for my full-time job and a content creator for my passion project. It can be hard to ālog offā when thereās always something more I can be doing. I want to continue to grow my own brand and business every chance I can.
Social media going down for a little bit got me thinking that I need to have better boundaries (AKA get off social media at 9 PM like I tell myself Iām going to.) and find other social media-free moments during my dayā¦ even when social media is my job.
Welp, that got deep for my little life updateā¦
Abruptly changing topics: I want to say a huge thank you for all your excitement and support for the rebrand. Iām so hyped about this new direction and am happy to hear you are too š
What to read this weekend: Carola Loveringās new book BYE, BABY came out this week. I donāt know what she puts in her books but they are just so addicting. This one is about a mommy influencer, her former best friend, and a kidnapping. Itās the perfect book to just absolutely binge this weekend.
What to watch this weekend: Have you watched the new Mr. and Mrs. Smith series on Prime? I havenāt started it but I have been hearing great things. It was created by Donald Glover and Iām just obsessed with everything he does so I have a good feeling about this one and how his sense of humor will translate to the material.
What to do this weekend: Are you sick of hitting up the same spots in your city over and over again? While I love being a regular at my *spots* Iāve also been trying to be better about branching out and trying new places.
This weekend use Opulist to find a new spot in your city. They have a curated database of the most aesthetically pleasing restaurants, bars, and coffee shops in major cities. I used it while I was in LA to find some new-to-me cute dinner spots to meet up with friends and it did not disappoint.
Find a new coffee shop maybe in a neighborhood you donāt usually gravitate towards and use that as a jumping-off point to explore the area. Bring your book and sit with a latte for a bit, and then go window shopping afterward.
On my radar in NYC is June Shine which looks incredibly cute and has a hard kombucha tasting room š
Let me know what spots you find and Iāll see you Sunday for our first Sunday Sip newsletter!
